Dr. Funmilayo Victoria Doherty is a Chief Lecturer at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Nigeria. She has 20 years of teaching experience in the field of Technical Vocational Education and Training. She has MSc and PhD in Environmental Toxicology and Pollution Management. She is a member of several professional bodies including Organization for Women in Science for the developing world (OWSD). Through these professional activities and engagements, Dr. Doherty has developed strong linkages within the international scientific community that complement her research and leadership accomplishments. She is a recipient of many research grants including World Bank STEP-B Innovators of Tomorrow research grant in 2011, UNESCO UNEVOC Grant for Joint Africa Regional Green Technical, Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) 2017, Ford Foundation 2020/2021, TETFUND National Research Fund 2021 and American College of  Toxicology Travel grant 2022 and FCDO/UNICEF 2024. She has presented research at international conferences in Africa, Europe, Asia and United States of America. Dr. Doherty has a strong academic background, research portfolio, instructional design competencies, leadership experience, and international perspective that make her well qualified as an educator and academic manager. Her mix of knowledge of TVET, mentoring abilities, and focus on sustainable development are her key strengths. She is a Qualified Quality Assurance Assessor under the National Skills Qualification.
