WORKSHOP PRESENTATION: Dan Kay studied English Literature and IT and Hope. He worked for the Liverpool Echo and he spent 20 years writing and fighting for justice on behalf of the city. Dan was a passionate Liverpool supporter but he was respected by Everton and had the nickname 'Purple Dan'. Dan worked tirelessly to pay tribute to the Hillsborugh victims and campaigned with the families for justice. In May 2023, Dan died after being struck by a train and there is a serious incidence investigation underway with a focus on access to mental health crisis support. Dan was awarded a posthumous honorary doctorate of Liverpool Hope University and the University is working with the Dan Kay Foundation to continue is Social Justice work. There are 5 events planned in this stream. This first event focuses on the Life of Dan Kay , No More Deaths campaign, Hillsborough Law and Duty of Candour and Mental Health Crisis support. The workshop is run by the Community Health and Social Work team in collaboration with the Dan Kay Foundation and special guests.
