Self-professed "competency geek", Certified Management Consultant focused on competency-based workforce and organizational development. Based in Calgary AB. 

I've been involved in competency-based training, assessment and certification for over 30 yrs, beginning in the Canadian military and extending through my involvement in the manufacturing and aerospace industries, and now as an independent consultant, author and speaker, and director of human capital policy research at the Canada West Foundation. 

Current work is aimed at non-traditional learning and recognition pathways, and developing ways to assess and recognize skills acquired through experience rather than formal schooling.  Working to improve and expand Canadian apprenticeship beyond it’s traditional limited focus on ‘skilled trades’.
