Directorate of National Education works under Ministry of Education and conducts services of administration, personnel, education, in-service training of teachers and other staff, training of teacher candidates, budget, investments, investigation and guidance in educational institutions that are subsidiaries of Ministry of Education. Main departments are Education and Student Affairs, Computers and Examination Services, In-service Training, Culture, Appointment, Apprenticeship and Mass Education, Budget-Investments and Facilities, Employee and Record, Private Schooling and Guidance, Civil Defence Services, Preschool Education, Physical Education and Sports, Service for Teachers and Social Operations, Scholarships, Health Issues, Mass Education, Investigation-Planning and Statistics, Educational Tools and Equipment, Archive and Administration, Press and Public Relations. Schools under the directorate: 93 primary schools, 37 secondary schools with 2494 teachers 46.724 students. The directorate oversees vocational schools and centers in the city and its 8 districts. Apprenticeship center is also run by the directorate which has a department on vocational education.
