The
Vocational School for Media and Communication specialises in training courses
in the fields of media business and foreign languages. There are commercial and
design media and communication professions available in a wide variety at
the school.
The teaching staff consists of approximately 95 teachers. BMK college is a
school with a team-oriented, good working atmosphere and motivated staff that
teaches in very innovative programmes. Pre-service teachers, students on
orientation placements and core trainees are trained. A total of about 1,350
students are enrolled, of which about 950 are in dual education. Most of the
trainees have the higher-education-entry certificate, this requires an
extremely high level of technical and methodological competence on the part of
the colleagues. Furthermore, an intensive cooperation with the more than 400
companies is required.
Some of the students come from educationally and socially disadvantaged homes. Here, strong pedagogical support by the teachers is necessary to ensure an appropriate professional education. The school culture in all types of schools includes a very project-oriented teaching approach that aims at a high degree of independence and individuality of the students. The pupils are supported by a comprehensive guidance and coaching system.

Dual courses of study include digital and print media designer, marketing
communications clerk,
audio-visual media specialist, digital and print media specialist, service
specialist for dialogue marketing, photographer, photographer and specialist
for market and social research.
There is also a vocational school for media management and production, screen design and commercial assistance with a focus on foreign languages.
In the Design Technical College and the Design Vocational College, the entrance qualification for higher education can be obtained. BMK is a large location for migrants (AV-M Dual), with literacy classes and preparation for the first and intermediate school-leaving certificates.
Since the school year 2021/22, BMK has been offering in cooperation with the Hamburg University of Cooperative Education (BHH) and the companies in the course of study for marketing communication clerks, BMK has also offered a study-integrated study-integrated training.
BMK has been designated a European School and international activities are an integral part of the educational programme offered. Through the use of Erasmus+, bilingual opportunities and international partnerships in Europe and with Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, USA, students have a variety of opportunities to develop their intercultural, language and professional skills in an international context.
