I am a graduate of Auburn University in Alabama, USA with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts Education. My Master’s degree in Industrial Education is from Western Kentucky University. I am currently a professor of Advanced Manufacturing at Florida State College at Jacksonville. I have been at FSCJ for 3 years. I teach Survey of Electronics, Fluid Power, Robotics and occasionally a CAD or GIS class. Before FSCJ, I was the program coordinator for the Mechatronics program at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, in Martinsburg, WV. As well as coordinating the program I taught Fluid Power, Mechanical Systems, and CAD. I opened this program at BRCTC and was there for 5 years. I retired from 34 years of teaching in public school system of Washington County in Maryland, USA. In my tenure there I served as Industrial Arts, Technology, Talented and Gifted Resource Teacher, Internship Coordinator, and spent my last 7 years as a Project Lead the Way, https://www.pltw.org/ Pre-Engineering teacher at Washington County Technical High School. My industrial experience has been in drafting and CAD. I was nominated 2 times for Washington County Teacher of the Year. I was named the Florida Post-Secondary Manufacturing Teacher of the year in 2020. Currently I am the Principle Investigator for two National Science Foundation Grants at FSCJ. One grant is for developing an Instrumentation and Controls Certificate Program, and the second grant is to implement Industry 4.0 into our curricular content, in order to prepare our students to pass industry standardized certification exams.
