V2020, a registered charity organization (CC No:-1142264), adopts instructive ICT, social, leadership skills training, sports/exercises to strengthen communities, provide opportunities for socially disadvantaged, hard to reach young people; with linguistic adaptations and socio-cultural complexities/challenges, difficulties, and identifications; empowers these socially disadvantaged, hard to reach young people; by providing opportunities and assisting them find routes back into education, volunteering, and employment. Based in the Black Minority Ethnic and Asian communities of Gorton, Manchester UK; one of the most socially deprived neighbourhoods in UK; among 10% most deprived wards in Britain, 30% most deprived Lower Super Output Area.(Government Report ’08), V2020 enhances young people’s personal development through wider community involvement, train, empower, and skill them through coaching, mentoring; thereby improving their self-confidence and esteem through Youth Exchanges, Youth Initiatives; Training and Networking projects etc. 'RTS' Youths Reclaim The Streets, 'KIO' Kick it our Kick Racism Out was selected as a case study by the YiA/British Council in 2012 (see Youth in Action & SALTO website) aimed at building respect in the community, reduce levels of anti-social behaviour, intolerance, racism and xenophobia by excluded young people through reformative and participatory activities. Due to his contribution to youth work, V2020’s Chair was appointed a Champion of YiA International Youth work, contracted Trainer on Training and Cooperative Activities Pool, Local Contact and Local Co-ordinator by the British Council (2014/2015). British Council also approved the following projects ‘EPAC’ Euromed: Path to Active Citizenship, ‘WARX’ War Against Racism and Xenophobia, ‘ROP’ Roma Outreach Project, ‘YIDS’ Youth Inter-cultural Dialogue, and many more in 2015. As we continue to expand our scope, organizations such as Comic Relief, Awards for All, ESF - Back to Work Programme, Swimathon Funds have approved funds for different projects. We have the capacity and the resources to run local, transnational and International projects as we delivered not less than 6 projects in 2013/14 under the Youth in Action Programmes and more than 7 projects in 2015/2016 under Erasmus+ programmes. We successfully delivered 5 Erasmus+ Programmes in 2015, 5 in 2016, including 2 with our Georgian partner in Bakuriani and Kobuleti, Georgia apart from numerous local projects also delivered in the same programme year. V2020, expanding it's horizon partnered with Eurodemos, Romania, TDM 2000 International, Italy and Youth Alliance, Macedonia to deliver Citizenship Awareness and Democratic Involvement of European Union Citizens’ in European Union Affairs; themed: Europe, my country Project under Europe for Citizens Programme and Sports programmes in 2016 (https://www.smore.com/1ce64-v2020-s-democracy-sports-day https://www.smore.com/1ce64) Our organization was accredited as EVS sending, hosting and coordinating organization by the British Council for the next 7years. (Accreditation of Youth Volunteering Organisations (ERAPLUS-EVS-CHARTER) 2014-1-UK01-KA110-012306) AQA also registered V2020's Institute of Entrepreneurship/Leadership Studies and Development as an accreditation centre for all courses delivered in the centre and the local community. Professional Competence V2020 is a registered charity organization with number 1142264, operating with a constitution, 6 Trustee members, 3 management team members and 10 volunteers who commit an average of about 37.5 hours of their time weekly. The British Council recently conducted an audit of V2020 processes, procedures including financial prudence and was given a pass mark for adopting strict financial and good practice processes. V2020 delivered on agreed project terms of reference on projects below supported @ various times by funders stated herewith. While delivering projects we adopt PRINCE II Project Management processes to ensure project efficiency, effectiveness and quality assurance processes. Our project impacts are felt by funders, clients, participants, volunteers and the society as a whole. We involve all stakeholders in our projects geared towards addressing societal problems such as Youth Unemployment, Anti-social behaviours, Racism, Exclusion and Inclusion of disadvantaged young people etc. We also created volunteer roles in the community, from 2009 to date we created about 25 volunteer roles and assisted young people to come off welfare packages to secure permanent jobs. Due to his numerous contributions to International Youth Work, the Chairperson for V2020 was appointed Champion for International Youth Work by British Council in Birmingham UK in 2013. We assisted 75% of our clients to start their own businesses; while women especially young girls are empowered through V2020’s Women Empowerment Seminars @ International Women Days. Projects: 1. 'A4A' Activate for Action - YIA & British Council Others are: 'SFP' Swim Fit Project sponsored by Comic Relief, ''TTCP' Table Tennis Coaching Project, 'SAP' Swim Active Project, Back to Work Programme, 'MTP' etc. The project team leader is a Champion for International Youth Work, a qualified Mentor, Coach, Trainer in Euromed, expert in Project Management(Prince II), Certified Trainer with Education and Training (PTTLS- Planning to Teach in The Life-Long Sector) Coordinated and facilitated on all V2020 Training Projects. He is also educated to masters degree level with both MPA and MBA degrees. Other team members are experienced in project management, have MBA in International Business Finance and Accounting. They are versatile in funds bidding process as they were involved in putting together previous proposals and approved applications for V2020. All project team members are experienced in project management planning, finance management, strategic coordination and communication process between partners. They also have knowledge of learning and teaching tools and approaches. Virtual cooperation and local project activities and management. All these skills are leverage in writing project' application. Those involved in writing the application speaks, writes clearly and effectively; demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping others in the team informed. They work and collaborate with colleagues to achieve set deadlines while putting together the application. They placed team agenda before personal agenda, supports and acts in accordance with final group decisions. In addition, they developed clear goals that are constant with agreed strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required; foresees risk and allow for contingencies when mapping the project application. Project Outcomes • 25 volunteer roles created from 2009 to date. • Over 300 people have benefited from our varied projects geared towards emancipation of less privileged people within the BMEA communities; some were supported to start their own businesses. • Our social sports and exercise projects created a healthier community through constant and frequent group exercises and activities • At least 75% of participants on our sports and exercise projects continued to exercise on regular basis creating a healthy community; while 65% joins V2020 Tennis and Football clubs. • 55% reduction in avoidable health challenges such as obesity, stress; improved healthy heart, health and well-being was recorded among people in the community especially the old people due to constant group exercises organized by V2020. • Participants network, enlarge their scope and coverage of contact and relationships; through joint working, exercises and team building exercises • 75% of participants were empowered through skills training via V2020 Back to Work, Work Club; skills such as ICT, Photography, and Computer Repairs etc. were acquired.
