The vocational college for banking, insurance, and law with a secondary school (short: Berufliche Schule St. Pauli) is conveniently located in the heart of the North German economic metropolis of Hamburg. As one of the largest commercial vocational colleges in the Hanseatic city, we serve nearly 2,000 students and trainees with over 100 full-time employees. We train future bank clerks, insurance and financial investment merchants, social security specialists, specialists for labor market services, legal clerks, notary clerks, and judicial clerks. In cooperation with the Hamburg Vocational College (BHH), we offer integrated studies leading to a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Banking and Financial Management, as well as a professional degree as a bank clerk. Our subject-specific offering is complemented by the vocational secondary school specializing in economics. In three years, it leads to the general higher education entrance qualification, which allows students to complete any degree program at any university. A special feature of the school is the bilingual instruction (English/German) in the subjects of Business Administration and Economics. Both subjects can be chosen as examination subjects and for the Abitur.

We offer individual career counseling through the Work Shadowing and Job Dating programs. Students of the vocational high school who do not yet know which profession suits them can learn about attractive professions directly from trainees of various professions at the BS11 Job Dating event. Each date lasts three minutes so that as many different apprenticeships as possible can be learned about in a short amount of time. If students have further questions after the Job Dating, they can arrange additional dates with the trainees or even attend a Work Shadowing.

During the Work Shadowing, a student of the vocational college accompanies a trainee in school and in the workplace. This allows for early exposure to an apprenticeship. Insights into the different teaching subjects and training focuses are gained during vocational school lessons

In the workplace, students can learn about what it's like to be an apprentice and what activities are expected in this training.

In addition, with integrated studies, an insight into the world of the Hamburg Vocational College may be possible. Many lectures and seminars are held for the corresponding degree program.

We also offer vocational preparation with three branches: AvDual (preparation for vocational training), in which students are taught at the school and in the workplace; AvMDual (preparation for vocational training for migrants), in which migrants can obtain recognized school leaving qualifications; and IVK classes (International Preparation Classes), in which well-educated young refugees and migrants are prepared linguistically for attending German secondary school.

The BS11 is well-equipped technologically. Digitalization is highly valued in many ways at our school. With our integrative and excellent digitalization concept, we meet current requirements on different levels. The orientation of lessons becomes overall more digital through the use of digital devices and working on the learning platform lms.lernen.hamburg. The use of personal digital devices in class is just as possible as working with school-owned devices in tablet classes. The modern equipment of the classrooms with the latest panel technology allows devices to be integrated into the lessons and thus become an integral part of the teaching process. In addition to the educational content, students can also qualify themselves through additional offerings. Here, students create podcasts, develop games with the laser cutter, print with the 3D printer, and learn fundamentals in programming languages like Scratch or Python. This state-of-the-art classroom equipment, a maker space, and generously planned learning field rooms are therefore guarantors of a current and practical education. Open learning landscapes and group work rooms offer ideal opportunities for individualized learning concepts. A media center, outdoor learning areas (green classrooms), a cafeteria, and open event spaces round out the offerings and provide space for relaxation and communal exchange. Our professional economic orientation, individual support offerings, and modern equipment provide the optimal conditions for successful, qualified education
